Polaris Partners is a multi-generational venture capital firm investing in technology and healthcare companies across all stages. Polaris is based in Waltham, Massachusetts with additional offices in San Francisco, California and Dublin, Ireland. A Boston Seaport office will be opening in the Spring of 2014. The firm has over $3 billion under management and current investments in more than 100 companies. Polaris Venture Partners was founded in 1995/1996 by Jon Flint, Terry McGuire, Steve Arnold, who were partners ofBurr, Egan, Deleage & Co. (BEDCO). Polaris was the first of four successors to Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co. (BEDCO), one of the earliest bi-coastal venture capital firms in the US, which dissolved in 1996. One of the contributing factors in the dissolution was the departure of three of the three founders of Polaris. The three founders, left BEDCO in 1995 and began raising their first independent venture capital fund. Polaris is among a small number of top tier venture organizations. The firm has roughly $3.5 billion under management, and is now making investments through its sixth fund.
